Senior Building Designer

About the role

Empyrean is seeking an experienced Senior Building Designer to lead the design and documentation of bespoke residential and commercial projects across Western Australia. This role is responsible for guiding projects from initial client briefing through concept design, design development, approvals and construction documentation. Working closely with clients, consultants and the construction team, you will deliver thoughtful, buildable and high-quality design outcomes that align with the Empyrean design philosophy and established project portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Lead client design consultations and project brief development

• Prepare concept, schematic and developed designs

• Produce complete construction documentation in Revit

• Maintain design consistency with Empyrean's existing project portfolio

• Coordinate structural, civil, hydraulic, electrical and other consultants

• Ensure compliance with NCC, local planning requirements and relevant Australian Standards

• Develop project specifications and schedules

• Liaise with estimating and construction teams to ensure designs are practical and buildable

• Undertake design reviews and resolve technical detailing issues

• Support projects through approvals and construction phases

About you

• Minimum 5-10 years experience in building design, architecture or architectural drafting

• Strong residential design experience

• Experience delivering commercial projects is highly regarded

• Advanced Revit proficiency

• Strong AutoCAD capability

• Excellent construction detailing skills

• Strong understanding of Australian construction methods

• Sound knowledge of NCC and planning requirements

• Ability to independently manage multiple projects
