About The Opportunity

Programmed Electrical Technologies currently has an exciting opportunity for an Audio-Visual (AV) Draftsperson to join our team in Melbourne.

This full-time position will see you responsible for producing technical drawings and documentation for audio-visual systems across commercial environments. Working closely with our team, you will translate concepts and technical requirements into detailed schematics, elevations, layouts, wiring diagrams and rack drawings.

Nature of the position: Full-Time, Permanent

Location: Melbourne, VIC

Key Responsibilities

• Create detailed 2D AV drawings, including schematics, elevations, wiring diagrams and rack layouts using Visio or AutoCAD
• Assist with design documentation for tender submissions and construction packages
• Update drawings to reflect as-built conditions for project handover and service documentation
• Collaborate with AV integrators, engineers and project managers to ensure drawings align with technical specifications and functional requirements
• Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to incorporate architectural and services requirements
• Maintain drawing standards, version control and accurate file management
• Conduct quality checks to ensure drawings are accurate, complete and compliant
• Identify potential safety considerations within AV layouts and communicate these to project managers and installers

About You

To join our team, you will have experience in technical drafting, ideally within the audio-visual or low-voltage systems industry. You will have strong attention to detail and enjoy working collaboratively within a technical project environment.

Additionally, you will possess:

• Proficiency in Visio and/or AutoCAD; familiarity with D-Tools and Revit is highly desirable
• A strong understanding of AV signal flow, connectivity and integration principles
• Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings
• Awareness of AVIXA standards, building codes and compliance requirements
• Excellent communication, organisational and collaboration skills
• Certificate or Diploma in Drafting, Design Technology or a related discipline
• Vendor certifications in Extron, Crestron or Q-SYS would be advantageous
