Retail Sales Assistant

About the role

Warran Glen Garden Centre is seeking a Retail Sales Assistant to join our team on a casual basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic retail environment within the garden centre sector. Based in Warrandyte, VIC, this role is primarily within our gift shop, helping customers choose from our range of homewares, fashion and gifts while keeping the shop welcoming, organised and well presented.

What you'll be doing

• Providing friendly and knowledgeable customer service to gift shop customers, assisting them in finding products across homewares, fashion and gifting categories.

• Processing sales transactions accurately using the point of sale system and handling cash and card payments

• Maintaining a clean, well-organised retail space by stocking shelves, rotating merchandise and ensuring products are displayed attractively

• Supporting inventory management by checking stock levels and assisting with receiving and unpacking deliveries

• Contributing to a positive team environment by supporting colleagues and maintaining a professional demeanour at all times

• Following health, safety and security procedures to ensure a secure shopping environment

What we're looking for

• Previous experience working in a retail environment, preferably in a gift, homewares or fashion category

• Visual merchandising experience would be an advantage

• Strong customer service skills with a genuine passion for helping people find what they need

• Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable personality

• Reliability and flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and public holidays as required for casual work

• Basic numeracy skills and the ability to operate a point of sale system and handle cash accurately

• Physical stamina to work on your feet for extended periods and lift moderately heavy items

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

• Willingness to learn and enthusiasm for providing excellent customer service
