Looking for a casual role with a difference?

Port Phillip Ferries is looking for a friendly, people-loving Casual Customer Experience Officer to join our team at the Melbourne Ferry Terminal in Docklands.

This is a genuinely casual role, perfect for someone looking to earn a little extra money without committing to a regular Monday to Friday roster.

Most shifts will be on weekends, with the occasional opportunity to fill in during the week when our permanent team members are away or we need an extra pair of hands. Some weeks there may be a shift, other weeks there may not, so we're looking for someone who enjoys the flexibility of casual work and is happy to jump in when needed.

What’s the job?

At its heart, this role is about helping people have a great experience.

You’ll be based at our Docklands terminal, helping passengers book ferry tickets, answering questions and making their journey as easy as possible.

You might also find yourself helping a family plan their next Bellarine adventure, suggesting things to see and do in Portarlington or Geelong, assisting passengers with changes to their booking or simply making sure everyone knows where they need to be before the ferry departs.

We’ll provide full training in all things Port Phillip Ferries, including our booking system, services, destinations and experiences, so you’ll have everything you need to confidently help our passengers.

• Love people and genuinely enjoy helping others

• Are friendly, approachable and confident talking to customers face-to-face, over the phone and by email

• Are comfortable with computers and can confidently find your way around Microsoft products and other computer programs

• Enjoy learning new systems and picking up new skills

• Are organised, reliable and have good attention to detail

• Can think on your feet and stay friendly when things get busy

• Are interested in travel, tourism and discovering great things to do around Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula

• Are happy working weekends and occasionally picking up a weekday shift when needed

Previous customer service experience would be great, and tourism experience is a bonus, but attitude is more important to us than knowing everything on day one. We can teach you the ferry side of things.
