About the role
Harmony is the largest gold producer by volume in South Africa and is a significant operator of gold tailings retreatment facilities. In Papua New Guinea, Harmony owns and operates the Hidden Valley mine and owns 50% of the Tier 1 Wafi-Golpu copper-gold project. In Australia, Harmony owns the high-grade CSA copper mine in Cobar, NSW and is constructing the Eva Copper Mine in Cloncurry, QLD with first production targeted for the second half of the 2028 calendar year. These assets are supported by the Harmony Australasia regional corporate office located in Milton, Brisbane.
The Eva Copper Mine is a significant and strategically important project for Harmony marking a major milestone in the company’s copper growth strategy and its long-term commitment to Northwest Queensland. The mine will have a minimum life of 15 years and will involve mining multiple open cut pits providing copper bearing ore to a concentrator. Front-end engineering design is complete, and mine construction is expected to take up to 30 months with first production targeted for the second half of the 2028 calendar year.
About the role
As a Field Engineer reporting to the Deputy Construction Manager, you will be responsible for translating Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings into practical, constructable work packs that enable safe, efficient, and compliant construction activities on site.
Acting as the critical link between engineering design and project execution, you will work closely with construction teams, engineers, designers, and project stakeholders to ensure works are delivered safely, effectively, and to schedule.
This is a maximum term role aligned with the project completion and close out, anticipated to be 31 August 2028.
This is a site-based role. This role will be DIDO from local communities or FIFO from Brisbane or Townsville to our site in Cloncurry with local candidates highly regarded. The roster is 14 days on, 7 days off.
Key responsibilities
Ensure all civil and structural engineering project work complies with statutory and regulatory requirements and company policies and practices
Develop work packs that enable construction of IFC drawings, consolidating all materials required to commence construction such as scope, drawings, methodologies/sequencing considerations (SWMS), safety and risk considerations, related permits, RFIs/clarifications
Act as focal point for design/drawing clarification and ad hoc design tasks
Prepare documentation for standards, procedures, safe working practices and monitoring regimes in respect of work on or around civil and structural engineering projects
Liaise with other department engineers and designers to ensure project goals are met
About you
Tertiary qualifications in Engineering
5 years construction experience
Forward looking, pragmatic and considered decision maker
Problem solver with an eye for detail that can maintain project pace
Ability to operate in a high stake and pressure environment
Right to live and work in Australia
