Company Description Bayside Mediation is a private Family Dispute Resolution practice based in Melbourne, Victoria, dedicated to helping separating couples resolve parenting, property, and financial matters through confidential and impartial mediation. Led by an experienced Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, the service focuses on personalised, practical support that helps families reach agreements while reducing the stress, delay, and cost associated with court processes. Bayside Mediation offers a range of services including Family Dispute Resolution, parenting mediation, property and financial mediation, Child Inclusive Practice, parenting plans, and online mediation. The practice is guided by the belief that better conversations lead to better outcomes for parents, children, and families. Applicants will be joining a client-centered, supportive environment committed to clarity, respect, and constructive solutions.Role Description The Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner is a full-time, on-site role based in Highett, VIC. There is the oppotunity to manage your own diary. This position involves conducting intake assessments, facilitating confidential mediation sessions, and supporting separating parents and caregivers to reach child-focused and practical agreements about parenting, property, and financial arrangements. The practitioner will prepare and review documentation, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, professional standards, and organisational policies. Daily responsibilities include managing a diverse caseload, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to service development and continuous improvement. The role requires strong professional boundaries, trauma-informed practice, and a commitment to culturally safe, inclusive, and non-discriminatory service delivery.Qualifications Acceditation as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (meeting Australian Attorney-General’s Department standards), with experience in psychology, family law, or related fields.Demonstrated skills in mediation, conflict resolution, negotiation, and child-focused practice, including the ability to manage high-conflict situations calmly and professionally.Strong communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage sensitively with clients from diverse backgrounds and family structures.Proficiency in case management, documentation, including accurate record-keeping and preparation of parenting plans, and related agreements.Understanding of Australian family law, family violence risk assessment, and trauma-informed practice principles, with the ability to apply these in daily client work.Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small practice, manage competing priorities, and maintain professional boundaries and ethical standards.Comfort with using practice management systems and online mediation tools; strong general digital literacy.Experience with Child Inclusive Practice (CIP) or a willingness to undertake relevant training. On site support and training is available for the successful applicant to ensure proficiency in face to face FDR mediation.
