About the role
About Camera Electronic
Camera Electronic is Perth's leading independent photography retailer and a cornerstone of the Western Australian photography community. For decades, we've been the trusted destination for photographers of every level - from first-time buyers to professionals - and a hub for education, events and community through our Shoot Photography workshops and partnerships with camera clubs, brands and creators across the state.
We're proudly independent, family-run, and passionate about what we do. And we want someone who brings the same care and reliability to the numbers behind the business.
The Role
We're looking for an experienced, trustworthy Bookkeeper to take ownership of our day-to-day finance function. Reporting directly to the Directors and working closely with our external Accountants, you'll run payroll, accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations and BAS preparation - and keep everything humming behind the scenes.
We run a hybrid of Shopify and Xero (with some ongoing clean-up from a previous Pronto system), so this high-trust, high-variety role suits someone comfortable working across systems and tidying things up as they go.
What you'll be doing
• Processing fortnightly payroll - including super, STP, State payroll tax and leave reconciliation
• Managing accounts payable - invoice entry, supplier statement reconciliations and payments
• Managing accounts receivable - customer payments, statements and follow-up of arrears
• Onboarding and offboarding staff - contracts, inductions, payroll setup and rosters (Deputy)
• Reconciling accounts across Xero, Pronto, rentals, gift cards and internal loans
• Preparing the BAS and supporting end of financial year, working with our external Accountants
• Day-to-day correspondence with customers and suppliers, plus petty cash and gift card control
What we're looking for
• Solid hands-on experience running payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable (essential)
• Experience with staff onboarding/offboarding administration - contracts, inductions and exits
• Working knowledge of Xero (exposure to Shopify, Deputy or Pronto a bonus)
• BAS and payroll tax preparation experience (desirable)
• Sharp attention to detail and the discretion to handle confidential information
• A confident, personable communicator - you'll deal with Directors, staff, customers, suppliers and accountants daily
• Above all, the right cultural fit - it's the attribute we care about most
The essentials
• Full Australian working rights
• National Police Clearance
• This is an on-site role based in our Perth CBD store. Working from home is not available.
What's on offer
• This part-time role offers ultimate flexibility, making it a great fit for anyone seeking a healthy work-life balance.
• Competitive salary + super
• Variety well beyond a standard bookkeeping seat, in one of WA's most recognised retail brands
• A supportive, family-run team that genuinely loves what it does
