CommSec Principal Designer - UI Design Chapter

Help build the design foundations that will shape the future of CommSec. 

As Principal Designer - UI Foundations & Design Systems, you'll lead the evolution of CommSec's design system and UI foundations - creating the systems, standards and tooling that enable our teams to design and build exceptional digital experiences at scale. 

This is a senior, highly hands-on and technically minded design role. You'll work at the intersection of design, engineering, systems and emerging technology, helping us modernise how experiences move from idea to design to production. 

A major focus will be preparing CommSec for an increasingly AI-enabled product development environment. You'll explore how structured design systems, tokens, components, documentation, tooling and AI-enabled workflows can create a stronger connection between design and code - helping teams move faster while increasing quality and consistency. 

Reporting to the UI Design Chapter Lead and working closely with our Foundations team, you'll help establish the infrastructure that enables great design across CommSec.

We're at an important point in the evolution of design at CommSec. 

We've built strong foundations, but the way digital products are designed and built is changing rapidly. AI is reshaping our tools and workflows, the boundaries between design and engineering are becoming increasingly connected, and the quality of our underlying systems will determine how effectively we can take advantage of what's coming next. 

We're looking for someone who wants to get deep into that problem. 

This isn't simply a role maintaining a component library. It's an opportunity to rethink how our design system works as a connected ecosystem - from foundations and tokens through to components, patterns, documentation, tooling and ultimately production code. 

You'll work closely with designers and engineers to make our system more structured, scalable and machine-readable, while exploring how AI can improve everything from component creation and documentation to prototyping, design-to-code and quality assurance. 

We're looking for someone who loves sweating the details, understands the technical foundations behind exceptional digital products and is excited about building the infrastructure that enables hundreds of people to do better work.
