Job Description

What you’ll do

As Mining Manager, you’ll be accountable for optimising Mining operations to deliver the plan, budget and current and future Production Targets safely, whilst meeting cost and quality targets. You will work collaboratively with senior leaders to bring together a multi-disciplinary operation.

Your key responsibilities will include: 

• Build and lead the Mining team to achieve high output with high engagement. Ensure that teams and individuals’ work is safe, authorised, productive and measurable
• Planning and project managing a programme to drive operational excellence
• Optimising mining extraction, material movement, grade management, dispatch and fleet processes
• Monitor performance against plan, lead opportunity/risk identification and mitigation, and ensure action is taken to manage deviation from plan
• Drive asset optimisation and continuous improvement of Mining performance, incorporating best practice benchmarking and implementation of new practices and technologies
• Building skills of managers and a culture of high performance
• Collaborating with HR and technical leadership on business improvement initiatives
• Championing best practice and zero-harm mindset

Qualifications

What we’re looking for

Confident and credible, you’ll need to have:

• Experience of building high-performing teams
• Relevant degree (e.g. Mining or Civil Engineering) and professional qualifications
• Strong understanding of mining industry
• Exceptional communication and people skills
• Real commitment to safety and best practiceVisibly contribute to site leadership, working collaboratively to develop and deliver the site strategy, 5-year plan and annual plan, performance targets and budget

Given the travel involved in this role, a valid driving licence will also be required.

It would also be an advantage if you have:

• Experience of delivering operational excellence programmes
• Experience of working with contractors
