About the role
Let's be real. Most job ads say the same thing.
"Fast-paced environment." "Great team culture." "Competitive rates." You've read a hundred of them. You've probably worked at a place that said all that and meant none of it.
So here's ours, straight.
$30 to $45 an hour plus super, depending on experience.
About Danbar
We're an independently owned workshop in New Norfolk, about half an hour out of Hobart. It's a well run shop and we don't mind saying so. Tidy, good gear, proper systems, and a crew who back each other up.
What we're most proud of is our customers. We've spent years earning them. They come back, they send their mates in, and they expect a certain standard of work from us. We like that. It's a lot easier to care about a job when the person paying for it does too.
The role
We need one more qualified mechanic who can hold that standard.
Someone who gets on with it without being chased. Someone who takes the job in front of them, does it right the first time, and likes seeing a customer drive off happy.
Day to day it's servicing and repairs across all sorts of vehicles, proper diagnostic work on late model gear, and giving our apprentices a hand as they come through. If you want to keep getting better at the trade there's room for that here, and we'll pay for the training.
Hours
Monday to Friday, no weekends. And we're open to how the week gets shaped.
A nine day fortnight, a four day week, or an early knock off on Fridays are all on the table. Plenty of shops say they're flexible. We'd rather just tell you what's actually available and let you pick what suits your life. Come and talk to us about it.
What you'll need
Fully qualified, with at least 1 full year workshop experience under your belt since finishing your apprenticeship
Confident running diagnostics on late-model vehicles
Able to take a job from start to finish on your own steam
A current Tasmanian driver's licence
What we offer
$32 – $40 per hour + super, depending on experience and capability
Monday to Friday. No weekends.
Bonus scheme and staff benefits
Ongoing training, paid for, on the things you actually want to get better at
Regular team events, and a crew worth spending time with
A system that makes it easy to do great work, instead of fighting you all day
What we're not offering
A place to coast. Our customers expect the best from Danbar, and we intend to keep giving it to them.
How to apply
Hit apply, and in your cover letter tell us about one job you're proud of — a diagnostic you cracked, or a problem someone else had given up on. Three or four sentences is plenty. We'd rather read that than a list of duties.
If you'd sooner just come and look at the place first, that's fine too. Text Daniel on 0482 095 *** and we'll sort out a time. No pressure, no interview theatre.
