Coordinator - Justice Support Program - Mitcham / Croydon

Mullum Mullum Aboriginal Gathering Place (MMAGP) is seeking an experienced and culturally grounded Coordinator – Justice Support Program to join our growing team.

This is an exciting opportunity to help establish and lead a new Aboriginal-led Justice Support Program supporting Aboriginal people across Melbourne’s eastern metropolitan region who are on bail, on remand, or transitioning from custody, with a focus on reducing barriers, strengthening community connection and supporting successful transitions. 

The Coordinator will provide day-to-day coordination and practice leadership to the Justice Support team, supporting staff to deliver culturally safe, trauma-informed and strengths-based support to Aboriginal people engaging with the justice system.

You will coordinate referrals and caseloads, provide guidance on complex and high-risk matters, support strong case practice and work closely with justice, housing, health, legal and Aboriginal community-controlled services.

This is also a hands-on role. The Coordinator will maintain a small caseload where required and work alongside the team to support participants experiencing complex barriers.

What we're looking for

We are looking for someone who can bring strong leadership, sound judgement and a culturally safe approach to working with Aboriginal community.

You will have:

• Experience in justice, case management, community services or a related field.
• Experience providing practice guidance or coordinating a small team.
• Strong skills in complex case management, risk assessment and referral coordination.
• An understanding of the issues impacting Aboriginal people involved with the justice system.
• Strong relationships and stakeholder engagement skills.
• The ability to work collaboratively with Aboriginal community, courts, corrections, police and community services.
• A commitment to culturally safe, trauma-informed and strengths-based practice.
