The After Hours Hospital Nurse Manager provides senior nursing and operational leadership across Liverpool Hospital after hours. The team supports a large tertiary referral hospital with a diverse range of specialist services, ensuring safe hospital operations, effective coordination of patient care, timely escalation of clinical concerns and responsive management of operational issues. Working in a fast-paced and rewarding environment, the team plays a critical role in supporting staff, improving patient experiences and maintaining hospital-wide safety and quality.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate sound clinical judgement, resilience and professionalism while leading hospital operations after hours.
You will be a collaborative and approachable leader who can build strong relationships across multidisciplinary teams, support staff through complex situations and maintain a calm, solutions-focused approach during periods of high operational demand. You will be recognised for your integrity, accountability and ability to make timely decisions that balance patient safety, workforce needs and organisational priorities.
The Successful Candidate Will Possess
Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to positively influence, support and mentor clinical teams. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective engagement with staff, patients, families and senior stakeholders. Sound decision-making and problem-solving abilities in complex and rapidly changing situations. A commitment to patient-centred care, clinical excellence and continuous quality improvement. The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining professional composure and operational oversight. Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills, particularly when managing challenging situations and responding to incidents. A proactive approach to risk identification, patient safety and clinical governance. The ability to work autonomously while fostering collaboration and teamwork across the organisation. Emotional intelligence, resilience and adaptability within a fast-paced tertiary healthcare environment.
Selection Criteria

Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Relevant post graduate qualifications or equivalent work experience or a combination of study and experience deemed appropriate by SWSLHD.Provide an example of a complex clinical or operational incident you managed in a senior nursing leadership role (for example, clinical deterioration, a serious incident, behavioural emergency or resource escalation). What actions did you take, and what was the outcome for patients, staff and the organisation?Describe a time when you coordinated hospital operations during a period of significant workforce, patient flow or capacity pressures. How did you prioritise competing demands, engage stakeholders and ensure safe patient care?
