Rough Edges Caseworker

Rough Edges, a keystone program of St John’s Community Services in Darlinghurst since 1996, is looking for an experienced caseworker to provide frontline support to Rough Edges patrons. The role involves engaging with individuals experiencing vulnerability, assessing immediate needs, delivering holistic care, and providing crisis support and referrals.

This is a funded 24-month fixed term contract (with the possibility of going permanent, funding dependent) working with the Rough Edges Program Manager, Night Managers and committed volunteers. The role is a part time role (27 hours per week) working Monday to Thursday from 2:00pm - 9:15pm.

This is a great opportunity for someone who has:

• Experience as a caseworker, ideally supporting people experiencing homelessness, social exclusion or long-term disadvantage.
• Practical knowledge of supporting people experiencing homelessness, addiction, mental ill health and other complex social challenges.
• Demonstrated ability to provide crisis intervention, undertake risk assessment and respond calmly in challenging situations.
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex cases and competing priorities.
• A desire to work as part of a Christian organisation that seeks to translate the love of Jesus into practical support for people experiencing vulnerability.
• A personal Christian faith, with connection to a local church or Christian faith community
