About the role
Get Real International | Loganholme, Brisbane (Logan) | Full-time or part-time considered
Most services ask a young person to sit still in a room and talk. We don't.
Get Real is a transdisciplinary practice working with children, young people and families across Queensland and New South Wales. We deliver activity-based counselling and case management on horseback, on the mats, at camp, in the family home and out in community — meeting young people through what already engages them, rather than asking them to engage on our terms. Because we're genuinely transdisciplinary and case-managed, you build one shared plan with the whole team around each participant, rather than running a siloed caseload.
Founded in 2007, we provide specialised NDIS supports and deliver contracts for the NDIA and partner organisations. Our approach is trauma-informed and client-centred, and our values — Tribe, Play, Sustainability, Innovation, and Empowerment & Self-Determination — genuinely shape how we work.
This is a blended role for an experienced Registered Psychologist or Social Worker who wants clinical depth and a hand in growing something. Ideally, we are seeing a Psychologist who wants to help us establish and lead our Psychology team, or a Social worker who will help us grow.
Three to four days a week you'll be delivering direct client services — Psychology, reporting, counselling, case management and activity-based support with children, young people and their families, in their homes, Get Real Community House, and out in community.
The remainder you'll be building our presence in the Logan community: connecting with referrers and stakeholders, developing partnerships, and bringing new participants into the service.
It suits someone self-motivated and performance-driven who enjoys the relational side of both clinical work and community engagement — and who genuinely likes to play.
What you'll be doingClient services (3–4 days per week)
Deliver psychological or social work counselling and case management to young people and families, in their residence and in community
Apply trauma-informed practice so every client feels secure, understood and in control of their own goals
Collaborate with our transdisciplinary team to support participants out of crisis where applicable, and toward their NDIS goals
Provide activity-based supports — sport, hobbies, adventure, and whatever else works for that young person
Maintain flexibility in scheduling to meet client needs
Partnerships and growth
Build awareness of Get Real's services across the Logan community and beyond
Develop and maintain relationships with referrers, partner organisations and community stakeholders
Source and onboard new participants
Essential
Registered Psychologist (AHPRA) or qualified Social Worker (with current AASW membership)
Demonstrated experience working with young people and families 2 + years, and confidence in working with complex needs and trauma
Previous experience coordinating and building stakeholder partnerships
Current Blue Card, NDIS Worker Screening Check, and National Police Check
Current driver's licence and willingness to travel locally for outreach
Full working rights in Australia
Availability between 9am and 6pm
Desirable
First Aid and CPR certification
Experience with young people and families presenting with complex needs
A proactive willingness to learn and work outside your existing scope — this is a transdisciplinary practice, so we collaborate rather than stay in our lanes
Someone who adds to team culture, not just fits it
Bring your ideas — and run with them. We're all-possibility thinkers, and we mean it. If you've got a program concept or a better way to reach a young person who isn't engaging, you'll have the room and the backing to build it. Ideas here don't go into a suggestion box; they go into the schedule.
Flexible working arrangements. Our delivery model is in-home, community and centre-based, so the week isn't nine-to-five in one room. We'll work with you on hours and structure that fit your life.
A genuinely collaborative team. You'll never be the only professional carrying a complex case.
A role that grows with you. We're expanding across QLD and NSW and would rather develop leaders internally than recruit them. This role is designed for someone with the appetite to grow into supervision, team leader and leadership positions.
Work that's actually good fun. Horses, dogs, adventure camps, jiu-jitsu. Not every day, but more days than most jobs.
How to applySend your CV and a cover letter outlining your suitability to ******@getrealinternational.com.
We'll be in touch as we close off for interviews in the coming weeks.
