Senior Hospital Scientist In Charge Of Section -SCH Respiratory & Sleep Department

The role is responsible for workforce planning, supervision and performance management of staff, resource and budget management, implementation of quality improvement initiatives, risk management, and the achievement of agreed service objectives and key performance indicators. The position contributes to strategic service planning, service development, innovation, education and research, supporting continuous improvement and excellence in patient care and laboratory service delivery. 
 

• Responses to the questions below:

1. Tertiary qualifications of at least a bachelor's degree in science/biomedical science or relevant field or an equivalent recognized qualification relevant to Sleep Laboratory Science or relevant specialty.
2. Extensive experience in clinical sleep science including advanced polysomnography and respiratory sleep diagnostics, with demonstrated expertise in the analysis and interpretation of complex diagnostic and therapeutic sleep studies in accordance with AASM guidelines. Demonstrated ability to provide expert scientific advice and consultation to clinicians and multidisciplinary teams to support high quality patient care.
3. Demonstrated leadership and operational management experience within a clinical laboratory or healthcare environment, including workforce leadership, budget and resource management, service planning and the delivery of safe, efficient and sustainable laboratory services
4. Advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience in the use of laboratory information systems, clinical data management, digital health technologies, and electronic Quality Management Systems, with the ability to leverage these systems to support efficient, and high-quality laboratory operations.
5. Demonstrated experience in implementing and maintaining quality improvement initiatives risk management frameworks, policies, professional standards, and accreditation requirements with a sound understanding of the relevant legislative and regulatory and governance frameworks applicable to healthcare and diagnostic laboratory practice.
6. Demonstrated commitment to research, education and evidence-based practice, including experience in staff education and training, participation in research and quality improvement activities, and fostering ongoing professional development within the team.
7. Highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex scientific and clinical information clearly and effectively, provide expert advice, and promote understanding of policies, procedures and service expectations among patients, families, carers, clinicians, and multidisciplinary teams.
8. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clinicians, laboratory staff, equipment suppliers, and external service providers, supported by highly developed negotiation, influencing, stakeholder engagement and conflict resolution skills.
