About the role
Payroll Officer
Full-time | Continuing Position
St Rita’s College is a dynamic Catholic secondary school for girls in Years 5–12, located in Clayfield, Brisbane. Guided by our Presentation heritage and the motto Virtute non Verbis – Action not Words, we are committed to nurturing confident, compassionate and capable young women who make a meaningful contribution to their communities.
We are looking for an experienced payroll professional who brings a strong technical understanding of payroll together with excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Regular working hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm. We recognise the importance of flexibility in supporting a sustainable and productive working environment. Flexible work arrangements are available for this position, including the opportunity to work from home for part of the working week, subject to operational requirements and agreement with the College.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
In this role, you will:
Maintain accurate payroll records in the Payroll System, including leave accruals.
Deliver timely and accurate end to end processing of payroll on a fortnightly basis.
Administer Superannuation, PAYG Withholding Tax, Single Touch Payroll and payroll deduction payments in accordance with legislation and Enterprise Bargaining Agreement and Award requirements.
Prepare statistical and government payroll information as required.
Assist the Head of Finance in preparing the payroll budget of the College.
ABOUT YOU
You will bring:
Demonstrated experience in a Payroll role within a medium to large organisation.
Exceptional organisational and administrative skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Proven experience working with databases and payroll systems, combined with intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities to accurately manage, analyse, and report on data.

Experience in a Payroll role coordinating multiple tasks, priorities and deadlines in a busy environment.
Experience managing and maintaining data across multiple systems, ensuring accuracy, consistency and compliance with organisational requirements.
An understanding of, or willingness to develop knowledge of, child protection, duty of care and safeguarding responsibilities relevant to a school environment.
