Humanitarian Diplomacy & Policy Volunteer - National

The program   Working as part of the Humanitarian Diplomacy & Policy Team, the Humanitarian Diplomacy and Policy Volunteer supports the team to ensure national and state/territory engagement efforts are integrated, evidence-informed, and focused on securing sustainable outcomes for communities. Volunteers will join a team of up to eight volunteers (at any one time), who will support the Humanitarian Diplomacy and Policy Team, as they drive innovation in how Red Cross engages with government, testing and applying creative tactics, convening events, and managing projects that amplify impact and achieve change.   The opportunity   For this role, a strong passion and interest in government and humanitarian work, will enable you to assist the Humanitarian Diplomacy & Policy Team with the development and delivery of initiatives designed to communicate our advocacy and funding priorities to government. You will have strong attention to detail and writing skills.   The impact   As a volunteer, you will enable additional capacity to allow the Humanitarian Diplomacy & Policy Team to support humanitarian work across the country. The impact of your work will be the influencing and securing of policy change and funding from government.  You will be supported to learn more about how government and Australian Red Cross work in Emergency Services, Migration Support, Community Programs, International Humanitarian Law and International Programs. Throughout your time with Australian Red Cross, you will be supported with appropriate training to undertake all activities.   Application requirements   For this role you will be required to undertake a National Police Check, which will be organised through Red Cross The role will also require you to hold or apply for a Working With Children Check or Working With Vulnerable People Check depending on your State/Territory. Red Cross can assist you to apply for this check.
