About UsMSL Home School is expanding to support more families face to face across the Mornington Peninsula and Australia wide online. We use a Multisensory Structured Literacy (MSL) approach and work with families and students who may have Specific Learning Disorders such as dyslexia, or who are neurodivergent, including learners with ADHD or autism.We also support students who are finding it difficult to keep pace with the expected curriculum level for their year group. Some learners simply benefit from a short period of individualised, one to one support to help them re‑engage with their literacy learning after time away from school.As we grow, we are seeking one IMSLE trained MSL Specialist to join us. You’ll typically work with students in Grades 2–8 who require explicit, systematic instruction in phonics, morphology, fluency, writing and comprehension.
The RoleYou will deliver 1:1 MSL intervention using IMSLE principles, decodable texts, a cumulative scope and sequence, and structured writing scaffolds. Sessions may be online or in person depending on client needs.Location: Face to face sessions are based on the Mornington Peninsula. Online sessions are delivered from your home.
Key responsibilities include:• Delivering high quality MSL sessions, typically 45 minutes in length• Following the MSL Home School scope and sequence and lesson templates• Administering initial assessments and progress monitoring• Creating and using pre‑approved, age‑appropriate scaffolded resources• Providing regular progress reports and communication to families• Completing session notes and planning for subsequent lessons• Attending MSL Home School meetings and check‑ins to ensure a consistent approach
Essential Requirements• IMSLE accreditation / AMADA• Ideally 2+ years’ experience using an MSL approach post accreditation• Ability to differentiate lesson plans for learners with differing challenges• Warm, calm communication that helps students feel comfortable and capable• Ability to adjust lessons on the fly when learners are not engaging• Patience and sensitivity when helping learners engage or re‑engage• A genuine passion for supporting every learner to reach their full potential• Access to MSL resources to support lesson planning • Reliable internet connection and a quiet teaching space at home• Current Working With Children Check• Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance (or willingness to obtain)• Driver licence and own vehicle• ABN (or willingness to obtain one)
Highly Desirable• Experience with Victorian Curriculum literacy expectations• Confidence creating scaffolded resources to suit individual learner needs

Contractor rate: Up to $84 per session plus travelSuperannuation: Paid in addition to the contractor rate in accordance with Australian requirements

How to ApplyPlease submit:• A brief cover letter outlining your IMSLE training and experience• Your CV• A lesson plan suitable for a Grade 1 student without a diagnosed SLD.Specifics: They have mastered all consonants but are confusing vowels, especially e/i.Reading level: fluent with CVC words and some basic HFIW, but vowel confusion affects accuracy. Speech is clear, listening is good, no ADHD concerns.
