About the role
Are you an AHPRA-registered paramedic in South Australia who wants more than clinical work alone? Emergency Service Group is opening a limited intake into our first Paramedic to MESO Trainee Program. We will be taking applications for a extremely limited opportunity to develop into a MESO role, the program will be designed to have you fit into the ESG team post the training program, working away on remote mine sites.
ESG is a South Australian owned emergency response, medical services and nationally recognised training provider (RTO 46502). We supply Emergency Service Officers, Medical Emergency Service Officers, paramedics, registered nurses and trainers to major mining, processing and resource operations across the state, backed by a casual workforce of more than 80 specialists.
A Medical Emergency Service Officer is one of the highest-value role on an industrial emergency response team. You already hold the clinical skills. This program gives you the rescue and fire capability to sit alongside them, so you can walk onto any site and respond to whatever the day brings — from a cardiac arrest to a confined space extraction.
It is a genuine career step for paramedics who want variety, remote and resource sector exposure, and a skill set that very few clinicians in this state hold.
Trainees complete more than just a RII30719 Certificate III in Emergency Response and Rescue, we also cover site team integration, occupational injury management, industrial safety expectations and remote workplace onboarding and Drug & Alcohol testing. The Cert III qualification will consist of the following response competencies;
Road Crash Rescue
Vertical Rescue
Respond to Fire and Breathing Apparatus (BA)
HAZMAT
Confined Space Rescue
Underground Rescue
Training is delivered by our own trainers and assessors — people who work on these sites, not just teach about them.
Trainees who successfully complete the program will form ESG's MESO team, taking up casual placements across our client sites in South Australia. Flights and accommodation to site are covered by ESG.
This is a subsidised program, not a free one. ESG covers the majority of the training cost, with a trainee contribution required.
We are transparent about this up front: we invest in you, you invest in yourself, and the outcome is a nationally recognised qualification you keep for life plus a place on our MESO team.
Current AHPRA registration as a paramedic (essential)
Based in South Australia
Current unrestricted Australian driver's licence
Physically fit for emergency response duties, and able to be clean shaven for breathing apparatus use
Comfortable with heights, confined spaces and underground environments
Unrestricted working rights in Australia
Just as importantly, we are selecting on character. The people who succeed here are reliable, committed, driven and genuinely customer focused — our clients trust us with the safety of their people, and every interaction on site reflects that.
Only 6 to 8 positions are available in this intake. Applicants will be shortlisted for interview and a physical suitability assessment before offers are made.
Successful applicants will also need to complete a pre-employment medical, functional assessment and drug and alcohol screening, and hold or obtain a national police clearance.
Hit Apply and send us your resume, your AHPRA registration number, and a short note on why you want to move into industrial emergency response. Applications close when the intake is filled.
Emergency Service Group is an equal opportunity employer. We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds. Only applicants with unrestricted Australian working rights will be considered.
