About the Position:
The Commercial Manager is responsible for the operational and financial leadership of the college. This role ensures the efficient management of all resources, assets and finances as to support the objectives of the college. Through effective collaboration, the Commercial Manager will foster an environment that is safe and sustainable.
Position Overview
Responsible for the effective implementation, and operationalisation, of the Asset Management Plans for 'land and buildings and PPE' and 'financial assets'.
Responsible for the oversight of the management of the property, land, facilities and systems as part of the overarching operational management aspects of the college.
Responsible for all procurement and contract management.
Responsible for the oversight of the finance and accounting function which includes leading the annual audit program, payroll, accounting and financial control.
Responsible for the preparation, in consultation with program and project budget holders, of the Annual Budget, and report on monthly variances.
Through collaboration and the execution of best practice financial management strategies, control costs and expenditure.
Responsible for compliance requirements (including BAS, Instalment Activity Statements, Audits, Workers Compensation, Income Tax, Fringe Benefits).
Proactively implement, manage and maintain the College’s WHS management system.
Take a lead role in WHS initiatives to demonstrate safety as the company’s number one priority and create and foster an organisational culture that accepts Zero Harm.
Oversee the effective implementation of systems and processes.
Act as the ‘on-call’ after-hours staff member on a rotational basis providing support to the college and its residents.
Implement initiatives that drive workplace efficiencies on time, process and policy.
In delivering projects for the college, effectively manage subcontractors.
Qualifications, skills & experience:
Tertiary qualifications in business management, commerce, project management or equivalent (Mandatory).
Project Management qualifications (Highly Desirable).
A minimum of 7 or more years working in a similar commercially focused role.
Extensive experience managing teams of varying sizes and complexities.
Extensive complex procurement and contract management experience.
A proven ability to lead and manage projects of varying complexity.
A proven ability to develop and manage budgets and mobilise resources effectively.
Demonstrated financial management experience.
Awareness of relevant acts including (but not limited to) the Fair Work Act, Workplace Health and Safety Act, Building Industry Fairness Act and the QLD Heritage Act.
Independent thinker who pursues operational efficiencies.
