About the role
At Mount Ommaney Special School, we are looking for an exceptional educational leader who is committed to ensuring every learner is known, valued and supported to achieve their full potential. This role requires someone who leads with integrity, empathy and high expectations, and who can build strong, trusting relationships with students, families, staff and multidisciplinary partners.
Above all, we are seeking a Deputy Principal who will embrace our values of teamwork, trust, respect, empathy and communication, contribute positively to our warm and supportive school culture, and continue to build on our vision of Every Learner, Every Way, Every Day. This is a temporary full-time position until 11 December 2026, unless otherwise determined.
About Us:

Our programs are aligned to the Australian Curriculum and are personalised to meet each student's unique strengths, needs and aspirations. Learning is guided by individual goals that support students to access, participate and thrive across the key domains of communication, access to learning, health, safety and personal care, and social participation.
The Mount Ommaney Early Childhood Development Program (ECDP) is co-located on the school site and provides early intervention and specialist support for eligible children from birth to 5 years of age and their families.
Mount Ommaney Special School is currently undergoing an exciting major redevelopment that will deliver outstanding purpose-built facilities for students and staff. Once complete, the campus will feature a modern recreation hall, gymnasium, accessible playgrounds, sensory and therapy spaces, contemporary learning environments and enhanced outdoor learning areas designed to support every learner, every way, every day. While construction is underway, the school continues to operate successfully, with carefully managed temporary arrangements that ensure students continue to experience high-quality teaching, learning and support in a safe, engaging and inclusive environment.

A strong understanding of personalised learning, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), positive behaviour support and the effective use of data to improve student outcomes will be highly valued.
As a member of our Executive Leadership Team, comprising the Principal, two Deputy Principals and two Heads of Department – Curriculum, you will work alongside a highly collaborative leadership team to shape the strategic direction of the school.
