The College’s Infrastructure Team plays a critical role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the College, ensuring that our facilities and environment are safe, functional and well-presented for students, staff and visitors.

About the Role

We are seeking multiple opportunities for a reliable and motivated Grounds Person to join our Infrastructure team on a full-time basis (38 hours per week).

Working across our Torrens Park and Mitcham campuses, you will play an important role in maintaining the College grounds and supporting the daily operations of the school. This is a hands-on position suited to someone with horticultural experience who enjoys practical work, takes pride in maintaining high standards and values being part of a collaborative team.

As part of a small, close-knit team, you will work alongside experienced colleagues who are committed to delivering safe, attractive and well-maintained grounds and outdoor spaces for our students, staff and wider community.

Key responsibilities include:

• Undertaking a broad range of horticultural and grounds maintenance activities

• Assisting with landscaping and general grounds maintenance

• Maintaining lawns, gardens, landscaped areas and sporting surfaces to a high standard

• Operating general horticultural machinery and equipment, including mowers and chainsaws

• Undertaking swimming pool maintenance activities as required

• Assisting with event set-ups and pack-downs across the College

• Maintaining clean, safe and organised work areas

• Working collaboratively with the Grounds and Maintenance team to respond to day-to-day grounds maintenance requirements

• Attending and contributing to Toolbox Talks and team meetings

This role operates within a live school environment and requires a respectful, approachable and professional manner when interacting with students, staff and visitors.

About you

You will be a dependable and team-oriented individual who takes pride in maintaining high-quality grounds and outdoor spaces and contributes positively to the team environment.

You will hold a Class C Driver’s Licence (essential) and ideally a Certificate III in Horticulture and/or relevant horticultural qualifications. A construction industry White Card is also desirable.

 You will bring:

• Experience undertaking a broad range of horticultural and landscaping activities

• Experience operating general horticultural machinery and equipment, including mowers and chainsaws

• A strong work ethic and willingness to undertake hands-on and physically active tasks

• The ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision

• A collaborative approach and the ability to build respectful working relationships

• A strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards of presentation

• A commitment to working safely and contributing positively to the wellbeing of others

Incumbents will be required to attain and maintain a valid Working with Children Check, RRHAN-EC (Masterclass) and First Aid certification. If you don’t hold these certifications yet, you can still apply and if successful would be required to obtain these prior to commencement.
