About the Role

MAXAM is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Mechanical Fitter to join our dynamic team. In this hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for maintaining the main mechanical components.

Key Mechanical Skills 

• Equipment Maintenance: Expertise in maintaining (and small reparations) the main mechanical components as pumps, augers, conveyers and other processing equipment.

• Piping and Valves: Knowledge of piping and the proper maintenance and repair piping networks and control valves.

• Instrumentation and Control: Understanding how to maintain and calibrate instruments used to monitor and control chemical processes.

• System Commissioning: Refitting repaired components and recommissioning systems to ensure correct and safe operation.

• Compressed Air Systems: Understanding the fundamental operation of compressed air systems, including the components and their functions. 

Essential Maintenance Skills 

• Preventative Maintenance: Implementing scheduled inspections and maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failure and ensure operational efficiency.

• Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues in a timely and effective manner to minimize downtime.

• Predictive Maintenance: Utilizing data and technology to predict potential equipment failures before they occur, allowing for proactive repairs.

• Asset Management: Managing a comprehensive inventory of equipment, maintenance records, and spare parts for smooth operations.

What We’re Looking For

• Trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter 

• Current LV certification (Not essential but highly regarded)

• Pneumatic and hydraulic system experience will be highly regarded

• Excellent time management, communication, and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work independently and unsupervised

• Commitment to safety and continuous improvement

Licenses & Certifications

• Forklift License (Desirable)

• Open Drivers Licence - Mandatory

• Ability to obtain relevant site and security clearances (DGSC)
