Finance Officer

About the role

Working closely with the Principal and Leadership Team, this role supports the day-to-day administrative and financial functions of the school. The position plays a key role in ensuring effective business operations and responsible financial management that underpin the school's mission and strategic priorities. This is a fixed term maternity leave replacement from 1/1/2027 – 24/9/2027.

Key responsibilities

• Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable processes.
• Prepare and submit Business Activity Statements (BAS).
• Maintain general ledger processes and accurate financial records.
• Assist with budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance requirements.
• Provide financial and administrative support to the Principal and Leadership Team.
• Support the effective stewardship of school resources and day-to-day business operations.
• Assist with the financial administration of school projects and other operational initiatives as required.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of administrative and financial processes.

About you

• Extensive experience in bookkeeping, financial administration, and financial reporting.
• Experience in financial procedures including accounts receivable, accounts payable, preparation of Business Activity Statements (BAS), and general ledger processing.
• Sound knowledge and demonstrated application of accrual accounting principles and practices.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and written communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Advanced computer skills, including experience with financial management systems, Microsoft Office applications (particularly Excel), and web-based applications.
• A high level of professionalism, confidentiality, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Initiative and the ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
• A friendly, approachable manner and a commitment to providing excellent service to staff, families, and external stakeholders.
• Willingness to work collaboratively with the Leadership Team, Administration Team, and school staff.
• Demonstrated experience in school finance, bookkeeping, or financial administration.
• Eligibility to work in Australia.
• A current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement).
• A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check issued by the Department of Education WA (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement).
