Dental Receptionist

About the role

Kings Meadows Dental Care is seeking a dedicated and organised Dental Receptionist to join our team on a full-time basis. Based in Launceston TAS 7250, this is a key front-of-house position that plays a vital role in ensuring our dental practice operates smoothly and our patients receive exceptional service from their first point of contact. As the first person patients interact with, you will be instrumental in creating a welcoming and professional environment whilst managing the administrative functions that keep our practice running efficiently.

What you'll be doing

• Greeting patients warmly and professionally upon arrival, ensuring they feel welcomed and comfortable

• Scheduling and confirming dental appointments, managing the appointment book to optimise clinic efficiency

• Processing patient payments and handling cash, card and insurance transactions accurately

• Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records in accordance with privacy legislation and best practice standards

• Responding to telephone enquiries and managing incoming calls in a courteous and professional manner

• Coordinating with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow throughout the practice

• Processing insurance claims and liaising with insurance companies on behalf of patients

• Assisting with general administrative duties including filing, data entry and correspondence

• Managing patient consent forms and ensuring all necessary documentation is completed before appointments

• Supporting the practice team with reception duties and contributing to a positive team environment

What we're looking for

• Proven experience working as a dental receptionist or in a similar reception/administrative role within a healthcare setting

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse patient groups

• Strong organisational and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

• Proficiency in computer systems and practice management software, with a willingness to learn new systems

• Excellent customer service skills and a genuine commitment to patient care and satisfaction

• Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and data entry

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information with discretion

• Professional appearance and demeanour befitting a healthcare environment

• A patient and empathetic approach, particularly when dealing with anxious or difficult patients

• Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced dental practice environment

• Familiarity with dental terminology and understanding of general dental procedures is advantageous
