Drug and Alcohol Services South Australia is looking for an experienced Social Worker to join a dedicated team making a genuine difference in the lives of people navigating complex substance use challenges. 

About the role: 

Reporting to the Manager - Central Services, this role is responsible for the delivery and evaluation of a culturally sensitive, responsive, equitable and comprehensive specialist Alcohol and Other Drug Service aimed at prevention, intervention and harm minimisation to the community.

Duties for the role will include:

• Specialist engagement, assessment and psychosocial interventions for individuals in accordance with DASSA guidelines and procedures including the model of care.
• The development of clients' interpersonal skills through provision of substance use programs (including group work where appropriate), particularly in relation to MAT: OD and other medication assisted treatment programs and people with multiple co morbidities.
• Providing health promoting community development and prevention in accordance with the priorities of the DASSA business plan, working where possible in conjunction with other services, local communities and other DASSA units to promote health.
• Providing direct supervision of, and education and clinical teaching for students on placement.
• Using good clinic and time management practices and systems by planning, prioritising activities for efficiency and timely completion of work.
• Ensure knowledge, skills, professional development and service provision is in keeping with current alcohol and other drug practices by accessing the latest literature, attending professional and DASSA in-service program and workshops.
• Contributing to the development of an integrated team approach and culture which is highly responsive to the needs of our consumers.

About you:

• Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
• Demonstrated effective social work clinical practice including empathy and adopting a non-judgemental approach when planning, providing and evaluating assessment, intervention, counselling and case management for individuals, with alcohol and other drug use issues.
• Ability to consult with, assess and identify community, needs, community development and health promotion programs.
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team/group demonstrating effective problem solving, conflict resolution, advocacy and negotiation skills.
• Ability to be creative, flexible and self-directed, work under varying workload demands, maintain accurate records, analyse problems, formulate solutions, make decisions, to work with minimal supervision and manage time effectively utilising clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to educate, liaise with, advocate and provide consultancy to other professionals and agencies.
