The Onset
About the role
Content Marketing Manager | B2B SaaS
There are plenty of content roles where you inherit the strategy, the systems the calendar and the production team.
This isn’t one of them.
Picture yourself as the Content Marketing Manager working in a high-growth B2B software business that is rebuilding its marketing function with new investment, new capability, new systems and a very clear mandate to make marketing more commercially accountable.
And when I say content, I don’t mean someone whose world revolves around posting on LinkedIn and reporting back on engagement.
This role is much broader, and much more commercial.
You’ll own the content calendar, customer stories, thought leadership, sales collateral and product messaging, but you’ll also get hands-on with HubSpot, nurture journeys, workflows, lead scoring and the funnel.
The role has been designed around a simple question:
How do we use genuinely good content to help move a complex B2B buyer towards a decision?
That matters here because the sales cycle can be long, often 12 to 24 months; and there are multiple stakeholders involved.
Buyers don’t make quick decisions.
They look at what their peers are doing. They want proof. They want credibility. They want to understand why one solution is better than another.
So shallow lead-gen tactics aren’t going to cut it.
The business needs someone who understands how content actually influences pipeline.
The formal remit spans funnel-aligned content, agency management, commercial copywriting, customer and product marketing, along with hands-on HubSpot optimisation.
What You’ll Actually be Doing
You’ll work closely with the Head of Marketing and take ownership of a significant chunk of the marketing plan.
That will include building the content engine across LinkedIn, email, web and campaigns; creating case studies and customer advocacy; developing thought leadership; rebuilding sales decks, one-pagers and battlecards; working with Product to sharpen messaging; and managing specialist agencies to get work delivered properly and on time.
You’ll also be hands-on in HubSpot helping build and optimise forms, workflows, nurture journeys, segmentation, scoring and lifecycle activity.
There’s plenty to build.
That is either the best thing about this role or the reason it isn’t for you.
There isn’t a huge content library waiting for you. There isn’t a mature marketing operations function underneath you. And there isn’t a big internal production team doing all the execution.
What there is, however, is investment, agency support, strong leadership backing and the opportunity to genuinely shape how marketing works.
