About the Role

As the Senior Advisor Investigation Services, you will lead a team responsible for supporting AMSA's compliance and enforcement activities, providing specialist advice to inspectors and strengthening regulatory capability across the organisation.

Working with operational teams, legal specialists and external compliance partners, you will oversee key programs including AMSA's breach reporting process, infringement notice scheme and Family Liaison Program. You will also lead the development of guidance, training and projects that support the consistent and effective use of compliance and enforcement powers.

This role offers the opportunity to apply your investigations, compliance or regulatory expertise in a complex operational environment that contributes directly to maritime safety and environmental protection.

In this role you will:

• Lead and develop a team of specialist compliance and investigation professionals.
• Provide expert advice and operational support on compliance and enforcement matters.
• Develop guidance, processes and resources that support consistent regulatory practice.
• Deliver training and capability-building programs for AMSA staff and compliance partners.
• Oversee AMSA's breach reporting process and infringement notice scheme.
• Coordinate AMSA's Family Liaison Program.
• Manage projects that support the delivery of compliance and enforcement functions.
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, legal advisers and external compliance partners.

What We're Looking For

Qualifications and Experience

• Qualifications in law enforcement, investigations or regulatory compliance that meet the requirements of the Australian Government Investigation Standard 2022, including a minimum Certificate IV in Government Investigations.
• A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or substantial experience supporting operational law enforcement, investigation or regulatory compliance teams.
• Significant experience managing and coordinating inspectorate, compliance or enforcement programs.
• Demonstrated understanding and experience with the Marine Safety (Domestic Commercial Vessel) National Law Act 2012 and the Navigation Act 2012.
• Proven operational experience in compliance, enforcement and investigations, including within Commonwealth compliance and enforcement frameworks.
• Demonstrated experience developing and delivering training, guidance and family liaison or stakeholder support programs.

• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to provide advice on sensitive matters and prepare high-quality written material.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
• The ability to analyse and communicate complex legal, technical or regulatory information.
