About the role
University of Canberra is more than a university, it’s a community committed to shaping a better world through education, research, and opportunity with a strong commitment to inclusivity and reducing inequalities. Our vibrant campus in Australia’s capital city is a hub of innovation & opportunity. Ranked number one in Canberra for graduate outcomes and student support, UC values progress over perfection, inclusion over competition, and real‑world impact over prestige. If you’re looking for a career that matters, where you can belong, grow, and help shape what’s next, you’ll find your place at UC.
This role supports the delivery of student wellbeing services through a holistic and collaborative approach that enhances the student experience, builds community and promotes student resilience and retention.
A key element of this role is to provide timely and appropriate frontline student support from trauma-informed, strengths based and student-centered approaches. This can include crisis support, liaison with and referral to internal and external stakeholders and support networks and general advice and guidance about navigating UC policies and procedures.
You are someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys working with diverse communities beyond UC, and is committed to making a meaningful impact in students’ lives. You will be part of a supportive team dedicated to student success and wellbeing with opportunities for professional development and meaningful engagement. As this is a student facing role, the work is required to be on campus.
Relevant tertiary education and experience in social work, psychology, or relevant field would be advantageous.
The University offers excellent conditions and benefits which can be further explored on our “Work at UC” site such as flexible, family-friendly policies, on site gym, on site medical services, a grocery store, and Early Childhood Education and Care facilities.
We believe people deserve to feel welcome, supported, and empowered to realise their potential. Being a values based organisation, UC sets a goal to be the national sector leader in equity, diversity, inclusion and access via our Reconnected Strategy. UC encourages applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with disability, neurodiversity and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
