About the role
We are seeking a Process Engineer for our Engineering - Utilities team at our Broadmeadows manufacturing site. This role is key to ensuring the reliable, safe, and cGMP‑compliant supply of utilities that support pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.
As a Process Engineer, you will provide professional engineering support across utilities systems including HVAC, purified water (PW), water for injection (WFI), pure steam, bulk reagents, gases, and mechanical services. You will work collaboratively with Operations, Engineering, Quality, EHS, and project teams to improve system performance, reliability, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Support the operation and maintenance of site utilities to ensure availability, reliability, and regulatory complianceInvestigate utilities plant failures and operating incidents; identify root causes and implement sustainable engineering solutionsSupport routine maintenance, shutdown activities, and contractor supervisionReview plant performance, maintenance history, energy and waste usage, and recommend improvement initiativesExecute and support deviations, CAPAs, and change controls related to utilities systemsSupport commissioning and qualification of new or upgraded utilities equipmentDevelop and maintain engineering documentation, procedures, and technical briefsCollaborate with stakeholders to support utilities‑related projects and continuous improvement initiativesProvide engineering support to manufacturing and operations teams as requiredParticipate in utilities shift support and operational training, as agreed
Your Experience
Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent)Minimum 2 years’ experience working with pharmaceutical utilities systems(HVAC, WFI, PW, pure steam, critical gases)Demonstrated understanding of cGMP requirements in a regulated manufacturing environmentStrong analytical and problem‑solving skillsAbility to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teamsHigh commitment to safety, quality, and compliance
Desirable Experience
Utilities control systems (e.g. ABB MOD300, Siemens PCS 7)Utilities plant operation or maintenanceEnergy efficiency or waste reduction initiativesFamiliarity with CMMS systemsExposure to supervision of contractors or trade staff
