About the role
The River Nile Learning Centre (RNLC) is a not-for-profit organisation that provides a free and safe learning space for women from refugee, asylum seeker and migrant backgrounds to build skills, confidence and independence. Many of our students are unable to access formal education or employment programs due to age, visa status or personal circumstances. RNLC offers foundation English, numeracy and digital literacy classes alongside food relief, transport cards, wellbeing activities and social support. Our flexible, trauma-informed approach ensures we meet the individual needs of each student and their families.
As Bookkeeper at the River Nile Learning Centre, you play a vital role in ensuring RNLC's finances are accurate, compliant and well managed. Your work underpins the organisation's financial integrity, from day-to-day transactions through to statutory reporting and Board-level financial oversight, giving the General Manager, Board and funders confidence in RNLC's financial health and accountability.
The Bookkeeper is responsible for RNLC's ongoing financial administration, payroll and statutory reporting obligations. Working closely with the General Manager, you will manage bank reconciliations, payroll and superannuation, BAS and IAS lodgements, job/grant allocations, Board financial reporting, and year-end preparation for RNLC's external Accountant. This role requires current registration as a BAS Agent with the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB), along with strong bookkeeping expertise and confidence working across MYOB, the ATO Business Portal and Microsoft 365.
