Support Worker (Male)

Allegiance Heart & Home Care is seeking a reliable, compassionate and experienced Support Worker to provide one-to-one in-home support to an older gentleman living in Bellevue Heights.

This role is suited to someone who is confident with personal care, continence support, mobility assistance and safe transfers, and who understands the importance of dignity, patience, consistency and clear communication.

You will provide practical, person-centred support in the client’s home and assist him to remain safe, comfortable and independent.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with showering, grooming and personal hygiene

• Providing continence support and pad changes

• Supporting safe standing and transfers between a recliner, wheelchair and shower chair

• Assisting with meals and drinks prepared by the family

• Providing medication support from a Webster pack in line with the care plan

• Completing light household tasks related to the client’s care

• Monitoring and reporting changes in mobility, skin condition, appetite, behaviour or general wellbeing

• Completing clear and accurate progress notes after each shift

• Following manual handling, infection control and falls-prevention procedures

• Maintaining the client’s dignity, privacy and safety at all times

The client is an older gentleman with reduced mobility who requires assistance with standing, transfers and personal care.

He uses mobility and shower equipment and requires a support worker who is calm, confident and attentive during transfers. He is generally happy and cooperative with care and enjoys remaining comfortable in his own home.

We are looking for someone who is:

• Reliable and punctual

• Patient, respectful and compassionate

• Confident with personal care and continence support

• Experienced with safe transfers and manual handling

• Comfortable working independently in a client’s home

• Able to follow a detailed care plan and family instructions

• Strong in communication and documentation

• Observant and able to recognise and report changes in a client’s condition

• Committed to providing consistent, high-quality care

• Certificate III in Individual Support, Aged Care, Disability or equivalent

• Current National Police Check

• Current First Aid and CPR

• Current Australian driver’s licence

• Reliable transport

• Previous aged care, disability or community support experience

• Ability to complete accurate progress notes

Experience supporting older people with limited mobility, falls risk, continence needs and transfer assistance will be highly regarded.
