The Opportunity

We’re seeking a trade qualified and motivated Heavy Diesel Mechanic to support our Ballast Cleaning Team. In this role, you’ll operate and maintain specialised equipment on the Plasser RM900 Ballast Cleaner and MFS Ballast Cleaning Consist, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of works across Pilbara rail networks.

Your Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Trade Operator, you will:

• Operate key mechanical workstations on the RM900/MFS Ballast Cleaning Consist

• Perform routine mechanical maintenance and inspections to keep equipment running at peak performance

• Respond to and repair mechanical breakdowns during operations to reduce downtime

• Identify and report mechanical faults, malfunctions, or defects for timely resolution

• Support the broader team with mechanical repairs and conveyor belt maintenance when required

What You’ll Bring

• Mandatory trade qualification – you must hold a recognised trade certificate (Heavy Diesel Mechanic)

• Demonstrated experience operating and/or maintaining ballast cleaning equipment (Plasser RM900 / MFS wagons or similar highly regarded)

• Current Australian Heavy Rigid (HR) Drivers Licence

• Ability to supply your own trade-specific tools
