About the role

The Provisional Psychologist (AHP1) / Psychologist (AHP2) is responsible and accountable for delivering specialist child and adolescent mental health care to consumers with complex needs and ensuring optimal consumer care. The provision of assessment, education, counselling and group work are considered essential components of care which is directed towards the attainment of optimum consumer health and recovery.

Key duties of the role

• Provide a therapeutic/clinical assessment and intervention service to a client base consisting of children, adolescents and their families
• Participate in the identification of mental health needs in the community and in the planning, execution and evaluation of programs to meet those needs
• Provide supervision, training and education, and contribute to research, program evaluation and continuous service improvement
• Contribute to team administration, positive workplace relationships, service improvement and ongoing professional development
• Contribute expertise in all aspects of quality management to improve mental health practice and service delivery

Skills and Experience

• Master’s degree in clinical psychology or health psychology recognised by PsyBA, with general or provisional registration with PsyBA
• Provisional registrants must be working towards full registration and comply with PsyBA supervision requirements
• Demonstrated clinical experience in assessment and intervention for complex child and adolescent mental health presentations
• Experience working within multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with families, agencies and professional groups
• Strong communication skills and commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice
