About the role
Role Description The Business Analyst (Entry / Junior) will support project teams by gathering, analyzing, and documenting business requirements for initiatives focused on agricultural and rural development. This part-time, hybrid role is based in Sydney, NSW, with flexibility to work both on-site and from home as project needs allow. On a day-to-day basis, the role involves conducting basic data analysis, mapping business processes, preparing reports and presentations, and assisting in the development of recommendations to improve program efficiency and outcomes. The Business Analyst will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to clarify needs, capture feedback, and help translate project objectives into actionable plans. The role also includes maintaining project documentation, supporting monitoring and evaluation activities, and contributing to continuous improvement of SFARD’s operational and field practices.QualificationsStrong Analytical Skills to interpret data, identify trends, and support evidence-based decision-making.Foundational Business Analysis capabilities, including requirement gathering and basic documentation of business needs.Clear and professional Communication skills, both written and verbal, to engage with diverse stakeholders.Understanding of Business Process concepts to assist in mapping, reviewing, and improving workflows.Ability to work with Business Requirements, translating stakeholder needs into structured, actionable specifications.Relevant tertiary education or ongoing study in Business, Economics, Social Sciences, Data/Information Systems, or a related field.Proficiency with productivity and analysis tools (e.g., spreadsheets, presentation software, basic data visualization).Organizational and time-management skills suited to part-time, hybrid work, with attention to detail and follow-through.Interest in the nonprofit, agricultural, or rural development sectors; prior internship or volunteer experience is an advantage.Ability to work in a collaborative, multicultural environment and adapt to evolving project priorities.
