Eifer is a Canberra‑based construction company established in 2015, operating from our Fyshwick office. We offer an integrated approach to building, combining design, fabrication, and construction under one roof. Our core capabilities include facades, glazing, louvres, carpentry, and metalwork, and we have delivered landmark projects across Australia, including the Australian War Memorial and the Koala Hospital.

Our operations involve managing a diverse portfolio of Australian project contracts – from tendering and procurement through to delivery and post‑occupancy – directly from our Canberra office. While we source materials and equipment internationally (including a substantial volume from China), the contract administration for these procurements must be closely integrated with our Australian project teams, local compliance requirements, and on‑site delivery schedules. This creates a clear need for a Canberra‑based Contract Administrator who can manage both local project contracts and cross‑border supplier agreements from our Fyshwick office.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and negotiate variations to contracts, programs, projects, and services on behalf of the organisation.
• Respond to inquiries and resolve problems concerning contracts, projects, and services provided.
• Manage all paperwork associated with contracts, programs, projects, and services.
• Contribute to the negotiation of contract terms with internal and external partners, including Chinese suppliers and subcontractors.
• Renew and update existing contracts to maintain the integrity of contract information.
• Analyse potential risks involved with specific contract terms and advise management as required.
• Stay up‑to‑date with legislative changes and coordinate with legal departments as directed.
• Interpret and explain contract requirements, terms, and conditions to stakeholders to support compliance with statutory and policy requirements.
• Establish and maintain stakeholder and supplier relationships to identify and minimise risk, and maximise value from the contract.
• Prepare monthly progress claims, variation claims, extension of time (EOT) requests, and financial recommendations relating to contracts.
• Ensure all correspondence and document registers are up‑to‑date and traceable.
• Contribute to detailed cost plans, budgets, cash flow projections, and profit/loss forecasts

What We Are Looking For

Essential:

• Proven experience as a Contract Administrator in construction, engineering, commercial procurement, or related sectors.
• Proven experience in contract administration for construction projects, with a sound understanding of Australian standards, security of payment legislation, and local procurement regulations.
• Demonstrated experience managing contracts with Chinese suppliers or partners, including familiarity with Chinese contract law, procurement standards, and business negotiation practices.
• A qualification (AQF Diploma or higher) obtained in an English‑speaking country, providing a strong foundation in English‑language contract drafting and Australian commercial frameworks.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess contractual risks and provide clear recommendations to management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese (Mandarin), with the ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Proficiency with contract management software and tools – experience with Procore, Asana, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam is highly regarded.
• High attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously.
• A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset with a tenacious approach to problem‑solving.
• Commitment to workplace health, safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Highly Regarded:

• Familiarity with CAD and Revit.
• Experience with ISO system compliance and WHSE&Q frameworks.
• In‑depth knowledge of Australian construction industry standards and procurement regulations.

Qualifications and Experience

• AQF Diploma or higher in a relevant field such as Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Law, Business, or Project Management.
• Minimum 3 years of post‑qualification employment in a contract administration role, with proven responsibility for variations, claims, and risk assessment.
• Equivalent industry experience and demonstrated competency will also be considered.

Pay: $80,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
