Sooshy is a new, fast, modern sushi takeaway opening at 435 Swan Street, Richmond. We are built for the weekday lunch rush, with high-quality sushi, generous portions, fast service, and a distinctly Melbourne identity. Our focus is clean design, bold flavours, and efficient operations that make great food accessible and consistent.

We are looking for a reliable Sushi Kitchen Assistant to support our morning production team and help us deliver fresh, high-quality sushi every day.

Working alongside our Sushi Chef and under the direction of the Business Owner / Manager, you will help prepare ingredients, roll sushi, package products, and support a smooth morning production period before the lunch rush.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on kitchen work, takes pride in presentation and cleanliness, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

The role is expected to work approximately 7:00 am to 12:00 pm, three to five weekdays per week, with no weekend work required.

• Prepare vegetables, proteins, sauces, fillings, toppings, and other ingredients.

• Assist with rice preparation and kitchen production tasks.

• Roll sushi to established recipes and presentation standards.

• Package, label, and arrange products for sale.

• Restock preparation areas, packaging, and supplies throughout the shift.

• Maintain a clean, organised, and food-safe workspace.

• Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety requirements.

• Assist with deliveries and stock storage where required.

• Support the Sushi Chef and Manager with day-to-day kitchen operations.

• Experience in food preparation, sushi production, or a commercial kitchen is required

• Ability to follow recipes and instructions consistently.

• Good attention to detail and presentation.

• Ability to work efficiently during busy production periods.

• Reliability and availability for weekday morning shifts.

• A positive attitude and willingness to learn.

• Strong cleanliness and organisation skills.

• Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.

$35 per hour + super
