We're looking for a talented Data & Azure Engineer to play a key role in developing and optimising our Azure-based data environment, transforming complex operational data into meaningful insights, and supporting the future growth of our ACT Smart Lighting business.

About the Role 

This is a unique opportunity to combine data engineering, cloud infrastructure, business intelligence, and operational analytics in a highly visible role. You'll work closely with operational teams and leadership to build a robust data foundation, create a single source of truth for business information, and develop powerful reporting and dashboard solutions that support informed decision-making.

Working across Smart City Systems, CMMS, CMS, Power BI and Azure technologies, you'll help drive business performance through data-driven insights while supporting future AI and predictive analytics initiatives.

Your Role & Key Responsibilities: ​

• Design and build Azure-based data architecture and data pipelines.

• Create a single source of truth for business data across multiple systems.

• Develop automated reporting, KPI dashboards and performance measurement frameworks.

• Build data warehouse and data lake solutions.

• Ensure data quality, governance, integrity and security.

• Analyse operational and financial performance to identify improvement opportunities.

• Deliver business insights and recommendations to leadership teams.

• Support future AI, forecasting and predictive analytics initiatives.

• Monitor and manage data flow between integrated smart city systems.

• Provide technical guidance and support across CMMS and operational systems.

What you will need:

• Demonstrated experience in Data Engineering, Analytics, Business Intelligence or a related discipline.

• Strong experience working with Microsoft Azure cloud technologies.

• Proven ability to design data structures, models, pipelines and reporting solutions.

• Experience developing dashboards and visualisations using tools such as Power BI.

• Strong SQL and database administration skills.

• Knowledge of Azure infrastructure, networking, storage and monitoring.

• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business outcomes.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Data Analytics, Information Technology, Computer Science or similar.

• Microsoft Azure certifications will be highly regarded.
