Project Officer, Clerk Grade 7/8 (Wollongong)

• Play a key role in supporting projects that strengthen community resilience and emergency preparedness across NSW.

• Temporary/part-time (4 days a week) opportunity with flexible and hybrid working arrangements available.
• Location: State Headquarters, Wollongong (hybrid working supported).

This is a targeted recruitment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in accordance with Rule 26 of the Government Sector Employment (General) Rules 2014 - Employment of eligible persons. As such, preference will be given to candidates who meet the established standards of the role and identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. The Aboriginal People’s Engagement Program is committed to strengthening relationships with Aboriginal communities and ensuring Country’s voice, priorities and agency are reflected in emergency management planning, preparedness and resilience initiatives.

As a Project Officer, you will provide project management and coordination support to the APEP team, contributing to the successful delivery of deliverables and milestones that amplify preparedness in Aboriginal communities across NSW. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate project activities, monitor progress, maintain governance and reporting frameworks, lead financial management processes, and ensure project deliverables are achieved on time, within scope and in line with cultural safety principles and organisational requirements. About you

To be successful in this role you will:

• Demonstrate experience supporting or delivering projects, including planning, monitoring, reporting and stakeholder engagement activities.
• Have the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with Aboriginal communities, government agencies and other key stakeholders, while demonstrating respect and commitment to ongoing learning.
• Possess strong financial acumen, communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports, briefings and project documentation and communicate complex information clearly to a range of audiences.
• Have experience identifying project risks, monitoring project performance and implementing practical solutions to support project outcomes.
• Hold relevant tertiary qualifications in project management, community engagement, business, public administration or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

In your response, outline how you would foster culturally safe engagement, maintain effective governance and reporting processes, and ensure accountability to NSW SES and funding partners.
2. Provide an example of a project where you managed a budget, monitored expenditure, identified financial risks and implemented strategies to address them.
