Bereavement Counsellor - .6FTE Fixed term 3-year contract
Make a meaningful difference when it matters most
Eastern Palliative Care (EPC) is seeking a compassionate and experienced Bereavement Counsellor to join our multidisciplinary team. This role is integral to EPC's holistic model of care, delivering specialist bereavement support to individuals, families and carers navigating grief and loss.
The Bereavement Program is a core component of our service and comprises layers of formal and informal, universal and specialist supports. Working within an interdisciplinary team, you will provide counselling, assessment, education, group facilitation and community support to people experiencing bereavement, including those with complex grief needs.

About the Role
As a Bereavement Counsellor, you will:
Provide specialist bereavement assessment, counselling and interventions to clients experiencing loss and grief.
Support individuals and families experiencing complex bereavement.
Facilitate and develop bereavement support groups and programs.
Deliver education, information, resources and training to clients, families, volunteers and staff.
Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team to ensure integrated, person-centred care.
Utilise culturally sensitive communication and approaches in all aspects of service delivery.
Maintain effective management of clinical and non-clinical workloads while meeting organisational requirements.
Contribute to quality improvement, risk management and workplace health and safety initiatives.
About You
You are a post graduate qualified and experienced professional with a strong commitment to supporting people through loss, grief and bereavement.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or Theology, including two completed units of Clinical Pastoral Education.
Postgraduate qualification in bereavement.
Eligibility for membership or registration with relevant professional bodies.
Extensive experience providing bereavement counselling, including supporting individuals experiencing complex grief.
Sound knowledge of contemporary loss, grief and bereavement theories and evidence-based practice.
Demonstrated experience facilitating groups and delivering presentations.
Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team environment.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational and time management skills.
Strong computer literacy and proficiency with common software applications.
Current Victorian Driver's Licence, a satisfactory driving record and willingness to use a personal vehicle for work-related travel in accordance with EPC policy.
Desirable Skills and Experience
Experience working autonomously with a high level of professional independence.
Experience in community palliative care and/or community health settings.
Understanding of person-centred, family-sensitive practice and service delivery.
