Design Manager - Residential

Ready to lead design outcomes on some of Sydney's most significant high-rise residential developments? We're looking for a Design Manager with a proven track record in high-rise residential to play a critical role in shaping how our projects are designed, documented and delivered.

Design Managers at Hindmarsh are responsible for managing the design process and design documentation to ensure the most efficient design outcome in terms of contract brief, cost and construction programme, while building strong relationships with clients and consultants from project outset. Your day to day will include:

• Leading the design management process, from tender through to construction completion
• Managing the consultant engagement process, including developing scopes of work and monitoring performance
• Building and maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships
• Leading development of the Design Management Plan and coordinating authority approvals, including Development Approvals and Construction Certificates
• Liaising with architects, engineers and consultants to define project specifications and resolve technical matters
• Driving consultants to complete detailed design and documentation in line with programme
• Providing cost control input in coordination with the Estimating and Commercial teams

We are looking for team members who have:

• Proven experience as a Design Manager or Senior Project Engineer on high-rise residential projects, with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 building contractor
• A Bachelor Degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management
• Strong understanding of the design, documentation and authority approval process for high-rise residential projects
• Demonstrated experience managing consultant teams and design programmes on projects exceeding $20M
• Sound commercial and contractual acumen, including experience in cost planning and value management
• Advanced stakeholder management, communication and negotiation skills
