Support Worker/Mentor

Carneys Training is looking for a reliable, positive and people-focused Support Worker/Mentor to join our growing team.

This is a varied role for someone who enjoys working with people and helping them build practical skills, confidence and independence.

About the Role

No two days are the same. Your work may include:

• Helping people build daily living and household skills

• Cooking, meal preparation and developing routines

• Supporting greater independence at home and in the community

• Building social confidence and community participation

• Going to the gym, playing sport or exploring new activities

• Supporting education, transport and employment goals

• Mentoring people to work towards goals that are important to them

This is a casual position offering approximately 25 to 38 hours per week.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Patient, reliable and positive

• A good role model

• Great at building rapport

• Confident working independently and using initiative

• Focused on helping people build skills rather than doing things for them

• Genuinely interested in helping people become more independent

Previous disability support experience is welcomed but is not essential.

We’re also interested in applicants from backgrounds such as youth work, community services, mental health, sport and fitness, education, coaching and mentoring.

Requirements

• NDIS Worker Screening Check (or ability to obtain)

• Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain)

• Current driver’s licence

About Carneys Training

We are a people-focused disability support organisation with our HQ in Joondalup, supporting people across the wider Perth metropolitan area.

We are particularly interested in applicants around Forrestfield and the surrounding eastern and south-east suburbs, as well as central Perth and the northern suburbs.

Our supports cover daily living, community participation, health and fitness, sport, social development and employment.

We also run our Strong Foundations program and are a founding member of the not-for-profit Microenterprise People, specialists in customised employment and microenterprise.
