Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a bilingual (English/ Mandarin) Mechanical Engineer on an 8/6 roster to support and deliver engineering projects across our mining operations. Reporting to the CTO, this role is responsible for coordinating project delivery from concept through to execution, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to a high standard.

You will work closely with site teams, supervisors, planners and clients to provide practical engineering solutions across conveyor systems and fixed plant maintenance environments.

You are a hands-on engineer with strong problem-solving capability and experience working in high-risk, fast-paced mining environments. You can operate both strategically and practically, you are comfortable planning work while also supporting crews on the ground.

Essential Requirements for the role 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred)

• Experience working in mining, shutdowns, or fixed plant environments

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

• Current:

  • Working at Heights

  • Confined Space

  • Gas Testing

  • White Card

• C Class Driver’s Licence

• Ability to work FIFO rosters

• An ability to convert technical knowledge into practical instruction.

• Strong interpersonal skills, including clear and concise oral and written skills in English.

Desirable

• Experience with conveyor systems or bulk materials handling

• Working knowledge of conveyor modelling software, e.g., Helix Delta – T6, Sidewinder, BeltStat, Belt analyst.

• Fixed plant maintenance experience

Key accountabilities will include:

• Coordinate and deliver engineering projects from initiation to completion

• Develop work scopes, job plans, and shutdown schedules (including Gantt charts)

• Provide on-site engineering support during maintenance, shutdowns, and breakdowns

• Liaise with clients, planners, supervisors, and trades to ensure smooth execution

• Prepare quotations, technical specifications, and project documentation

• Conduct inspections, fault finding, and provide engineering solutions

• Ensure compliance with WHS, environmental, and quality standards (ISO 9001)

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across maintenance and engineering processes

• Maintain accurate records and reports for all project work
