Heavy Diesel Fitters & Auto Electricians – FIFO 2:1

About the Role

Wirlu-murra Enterprises is seeking experienced Heavy Diesel Fitters and Auto Electricians to join our site-based maintenance team on a prominent Pilbara mine site.

These roles support our Resource Definition Earthworks (RDE) and Solomon Road Maintenance (SRM) projects, helping maintain the mobile plant, machinery and vehicles required across our earthworks and road maintenance operations.

You will be responsible for scheduled and preventative maintenance, breakdown support, fault finding and repairs to ensure equipment remains safe, reliable and operational.

This is a full-time FIFO position from Perth on a 2:1 roster.

Heavy Diesel Fitter

As a Heavy Diesel Fitter, your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out scheduled and preventative maintenance on heavy mobile plant and machinery.

• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and hydraulic faults.

• Attending breakdowns and completing repairs in workshop and field environments.

• Servicing and repairing equipment including excavators, dozers, graders, loaders, water carts, rollers and other earthmoving and road maintenance equipment.

• Conducting inspections and identifying defects that may impact the safe operation or availability of equipment.

• Working alongside Auto Electricians and other maintenance personnel to troubleshoot complex equipment faults.

• Completing maintenance records and ensuring work is performed in accordance with site and safety requirements.

Auto Electrician

As an Auto Electrician, your responsibilities will include:

• Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults across heavy mobile plant, earthmoving equipment and light vehicles.

• Performing preventative maintenance and servicing of batteries, alternators, starter motors, wiring, lighting and charging systems.

• Fault-finding electrical and electronic control systems, sensors, CAN-bus systems and machine monitoring systems.

• Providing field breakdown support across earthworks and road maintenance operations.

• Inspecting and maintaining electrical safety systems, including warning lights, beacons, reversing alarms, cameras and isolation systems.

• Installing and repairing UHF radios, GPS systems, tracking equipment, work lights and other site-specific accessories.

• Working alongside Heavy Diesel Fitters and other maintenance personnel to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults.

• Completing inspections, maintenance records and defect reporting in accordance with site requirements.

Skills & Experience

Depending on the position you are applying for, you will require:

• Relevant Australian-recognised trade qualification as a Heavy Diesel Fitter/Mechanic or Auto Electrician.

• Current driver's licence.

• Demonstrated experience maintaining, servicing and repairing heavy mobile plant and earthmoving equipment.

• Experience working with equipment such as excavators, dozers, graders, loaders, water carts, rollers and other mobile plant.

• Exposure to brands such as Caterpillar, Hitachi, Volvo, Hino, Toyota, Kenworth, Bomag, Isuzu, Mack and Drake will be highly regarded.

• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills relevant to your trade.

• Ability to work effectively in both workshop and field environments.

• Strong commitment to occupational health and safety.

• Reliable, flexible and able to work effectively within a site-based team.

• Ability to pass a Pre-Employment Medical and Laboratory Drug & Alcohol Screen.
