About the role
Make a real difference in young people’s lives
Warakirri College is an independent Special Assistance secondary school supporting young people to complete Year 10 and the Higher School Certificate (HSC) in a flexible, inclusive environment.
Warakirri means “to stand and grow”—and that’s exactly what we support our students to do every day. Our staff work alongside young people to build confidence, overcome challenges, and achieve meaningful educational and life outcomes, often in the face of adversity.
We have campuses in Blacktown, Campbelltown, Fairfield and Redfern and a Distance Education program. Demand for our style of education is growing, and we are expanding our educational excellence to Picton and Cabramatta.
We are seeking a passionate and resilient School Youth Support Worker to join our Fairfield team on a year's temporary contract (parental leave cover).
About the Role
As a Youth Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting students’ wellbeing and engagement in learning. Working closely with staff, families and external services, you will provide practical, relational and strengths-based support to young people navigating complex challenges.
This is a hands-on, roll up your sleeves, relationship-focused role suited to someone who thrives in a dynamic and purpose-driven environment, that isn’t always plain sailing!
Key Responsibilities:
Support students’ emotional, social and behavioural development
Help build life skills, resilience, confidence and positive relationships
Provide individual support and facilitate restorative conversations
Coordinate the Student Induction Program

Supervise students during breaks and participate in excursions/camps
Maintain accurate case notes and documentation
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
About You:
You are compassionate, calm under pressure, and committed to working with young people in a trauma-informed way.
You will bring:
Qualifications in Youth Work, Community Welfare, Social Sciences or similar (Cert IV or higher)
Experience supporting young people in a school or community setting
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Confidence managing challenging behaviours using a strengths-based approach
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Current NSW Working with Children Check
What We Offer
A supportive small school environment where positive relationships are key to our success
Salary packaging benefits (FBT‑exempt up to $15,999 p.a.)
Access to a confidential Employee Assistance Program
Fitness Passport Membership
Ongoing professional development and career progression
