YOUR ROLE

The Employee Relations Team is a function that is designed to work collaboratively to provide employee relations advice to enable MACS to achieve its future ready goals whilst ensuring it meets its legislative obligations. They provide contemporary advice to schools on employment issues, enterprise agreement interpretation, managing employment concerns, contracts of employment and salaries, policy and guideline assistance, and implementation and training for principals and school leaders.

The Employee Relations Advisor will play an integral role as part of the Employee Relations Team. This position will provide high quality and responsive advice on a diverse range of employee relations matters to Catholic schools and principals, while contributing to the development of policies and providing support for the management of complex cases.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Provide timely and accurate advice on a broad range of employee relations matters to schools and internal stakeholders, supporting the application of industrial instruments, workplace policies, and relevant legislation
• Manage end-to-end case coordination of employee relations matters, ensuring procedural fairness and compliance with legislative and policy requirements
• Prepare high-quality correspondence, reports, and documentation relating to performance management, misconduct, workplace investigations, grievance handling, and industrial matters
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with principals, regional leadership, and internal stakeholders, while supporting the preparation of materials for matters progressing to external tribunals under supervision
• Contribute to ER projects and initiatives aimed at improving systems, processes, technical capability, and maintaining accurate and comprehensive case records and resources

ABOUT YOU

• Demonstrated experience providing high-quality responsive advice on employee relations matters
• Working knowledge of industrial relations legislation, workplace policies, and relevant industrial instruments, preferably within the education sector
• Proven ability to manage ER matters with professionalism, sound judgement, and procedural fairness
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to prepare accurate and legally sound correspondence and documentation
• High level interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a range of stakeholders and to work collaboratively within a team
• Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a complex working environment
