Synergie is currently recruiting for a leading reinforcing steel manufacturer based in Cavan who is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Yard Hand / Despatch Assistant to join their team. This is a hands-on role suited to candidates with experience in transport, logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, or yard operations.

Working within a busy dispatch environment, you will play a key role in supporting the movement of trucks, materials, and products while helping maintain safe and efficient yard operations.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Strapping and securing loads in accordance with load restraint requirements.
• Assisting drivers with loading and unstrapping activities.
• Verifying customer and transport pickups.
• Conducting gate checks and supporting site access procedures.
• Assisting with trailer and base movements throughout the yard.
• Supporting the Storeperson and despatch team as required.
• Maintaining yard organisation and housekeeping standards.
• Setting up and maintaining the yard in accordance with the site's Traffic Management Plan.
• Working closely with transport, warehouse, and production teams to ensure efficient operations.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• Experience working in a yard, warehouse, transport, logistics, manufacturing, or despatch environment.
• A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• The ability to work in a physically active role.
• A positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Highly Regarded

While not essential, the following would be advantageous:

• Forklift (LF) Licence.
• Truck Licence (HR, HC or MC).
• Dogman Ticket.
• Load Restraint experience or related training.
• Experience working around heavy vehicles, trailers, or steel products.

Key Performance Measures

• Supporting efficient truck turnaround times.
• Contributing to improved DIFOT (Delivered In Full On Time) performance.
• Maintaining a safe, organised, and productive yard environment.

• Casual rate of $40.17ph Day shift $46.19ph Afternoon Shift.
• Overtime possibly available with penalty rates.

Hours of Work

• Day Shift: 5:50am – 2:00pm (Mon–Thu), 5:50am – 12:00pm (Fri)
• Afternoon Shift: 1:50pm - 10:00pm, (Mon-Thu), 12:00pm - 6:00pm (Fri)

Overtime may be available on Saturdays.
