Anaesthetic Healthcare Practitioner Trainee

About the role

The Anaesthetic Healthcare Practitioner (Technician) Trainee provides clinical support within the Department of Anaesthesia and Perfusion Services at The Prince Charles Hospital while undertaking the Diploma of Anaesthetic Technology through a recognised training provider. The role offers valuable hands-on experience and clinical exposure to support the development of knowledge, skills and competencies required for a career in anaesthetic technology.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Anaesthetists, Anaesthetic Healthcare Practitioners and Clinical Educators to assist with the safe conduct of anaesthetic procedures across elective and emergency settings. The role contributes to the delivery of high-quality patient care through preparation of the anaesthetic environment, equipment management, participation in safety processes and active involvement within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

• Assist with the preparation and maintenance of anaesthetic environments, equipment and consumables under direct supervision.
• Provide skilled support during elective and emergency anaesthetic procedures as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Participate in perioperative safety activities including equipment checks, medication checks, briefings and surgical safety checklists.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to learning through participation in formal training, workplace education and ongoing professional development.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, teamwork and safe clinical practice while complying with relevant policies, procedures and professional standards.
