HR Business Partner

Experienced HR generalist role focused on strengthening systems, policies and people processes within a structured, stable, well-established, international organisation.

The role
Invisible Partners is partnering with a highly regarded Japanese automotive manufacturer in Melbourne’s outer eastern suburbs to appoint a hands-on HR Business Partner.

If you are an experienced HR generalist who enjoys being close to the business, values strong foundations and likes finding practical ways to improve how things work, this could be a compelling next step.

This is a broad role with responsibility across the full HR remit, combining the operational foundations of HR, policy, compliance, systems, documentation and employee matters, with a range of people initiatives designed to strengthen performance, capability, engagement and culture.

What you’ll do
Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you’ll take the time to understand how things work, build credibility and ensure the foundations of HR are working well.
You’ll have the opportunity to improve processes, strengthen systems and introduce considered changes that progressively lift the HR function over time.
You’ll operate across the full HR remit, including:

• Reviewing and maintaining HR policies, procedures and documentation to ensure they remain contemporary, practical and compliant
• Managing and improving HR systems and processes, including making better use of the organisation’s current HRIS, Employment Hero
• Supporting performance management, goal setting, employee development and broader talent initiatives
• Coordinating employee engagement, reward and recognition, diversity and inclusion and other people programs
• Supporting learning and development planning and ensuring development activity connects with performance and capability needs
• Managing employee matters including grievances, WorkCover, return-to-work and psychosocial hazard requirements
• Supporting recruitment and onboarding as required
• Maintaining strong HR governance, records and compliance processes
• Working collaboratively across HR and payroll processes, employee data and related administration

What you’ll bring
We’re looking for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and getting things done, while also bringing the judgement and experience to manage a broad remit and prioritise what matters most.
You’ll ideally bring:

• Broad HR generalist experience across both operational HR and people initiatives
• A genuine appreciation for structure, process, governance and strong documentation
• Experience reviewing and improving policies, procedures and compliance frameworks
• Confidence operating within a highly compliant, process-oriented environment
• Strong HR systems capability and the ability to learn, implement or optimise technology
• Exposure to performance management, employee development, engagement and talent or succession planning
• Experience managing employee matters such as grievances, WorkCover or WorkSafe-related activity
• Strong organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to work across detailed operational requirements and longer-term initiatives
• A collaborative working style and the judgement to build credibility before introducing change

Experience with Employment Hero would be highly regarded but is not essential. More important is that you are systems-savvy, learn technology quickly, and understand how HR platforms can support better processes and people outcomes.

Direct payroll processing experience is also not essential. You should, however, understand the interdependencies between HR and payroll and be comfortable working across employee data, compliance and payroll-related processes.
