Venue Manager – Royal Oak

Multi-Site Venue Manager – Royal Oak Hotel & Prince of Wales Hotel, Penola

Duxton Pubs is seeking an experienced, hands-on Venue Manager to lead the operations of two established Penola venues—the Royal Oak Hotel and the Prince of Wales Hotel.

This is an exciting opportunity for a strong hospitality leader to take ownership of both venues, build engaged teams and deliver consistently welcoming experiences for locals and visitors. Based in the heart of South Australia’s Limestone Coast, the role offers the opportunity to manage two unique businesses while becoming an active part of the local community.

About the role

Reporting to the Area Manager, you will be responsible for the overall leadership, operational performance and commercial success of both venues. You will work closely with the leadership teams at each location to maintain high standards, develop employees and ensure both venues operate efficiently, safely and profitably.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Providing visible, hands-on leadership across both venues
• Leading, supporting and developing strong teams
• Delivering excellent customer experiences and maintaining strong service standards
• Managing budgets, labour costs, rostering, stock control and overall financial performance
• Monitoring sales and identifying opportunities to grow revenue and improve profitability
• Ensuring each venue is appropriately staffed and operationally supported
• Maintaining compliance with liquor licensing, responsible service, food safety, workplace health and safety and other legislative requirements
• Building strong relationships with customers, suppliers and the local Penola community
• Ensuring both venues are well presented and consistently operated in line with Duxton Pubs standards.

About you

You will be an experienced hospitality manager who enjoys being present in the business and working alongside your teams. You will be confident managing multiple priorities and adapting your leadership approach to meet the needs of two different venues.

To be successful, you will ideally have:

• Previous experience managing a busy hotel, pub or multi-department hospitality venue
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to engage, develop and retain employees
• Sound commercial knowledge, including budgeting, labour management and profit and loss performance
• Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
• A proactive and accountable approach to venue operations
• A strong understanding of hospitality compliance and workplace safety
• Current RSA, RP, and RSG/Advanced gaming qualifications
• The ability to move between and maintain a consistent presence across both venues

Experience overseeing multiple venues or business locations will be highly regarded.
